Lola Ponce
Acerca de Lola Ponce
An actress and singer with a strong and intense voice, Lola Ponce was born in Capitán Bermúdez, a small town in the vicinity of Rosario, Argentina, on June 25, 1982. The daughter of singer Hector Ponce, Lola started singing as a child, at the age of eight forming a band with her brother Alejandro and then taking part in various music festivals. Then, while still in her teens, Lola started her career as an actress, with roles in some of the most prominent Argentinean soap operas. In 2001 Ponce released her first album, Inalcanzable, entirely sung in English. During a promotional tour in Spain, she became part of the cast of Riccardo Cocciante's theatrical rock opera Nôtre Dame de Paris in the role of the main female character, Esmeralda. She then moved to Italy, where the musical became a huge success (four million spectators and one million copies of the soundtrack sold). After signing with Sony, Ponce recorded her next record, Fearless, in Sweden and Los Angeles, and released it in 2004 in both English and Spanish versions. In 2005 she returned to Argentina for a while in order to take part in Sin Codigo, one of Latin America's most successful soap operas. In 2008 she won the Sanremo Music Festival competition with the Gianna Nannini-penned "Colpo di Fulmine," a duet with Giò Di Tonno. Ponce then released her third album, Il Diario di Lola. In the meantime, she also acted in Massimiliano D'Epiro and Danilo Proietti's movie Polvere, and also sang on the film's soundtrack. ~ Aurelio Pasini
