Momenta

We're riding the waves and flushing the days down into the sea
with all that's between us yet we still rush apart though it's just you and me.
Slipping down to the ocean and there, cut the ones all the hurt and the tides.
Look for moments of motion as if we could find where the stars first aligned.

And though it's never enough, we try to play through the rough.
We get so carried away, everything's held far at bay.
The ropes have slipped from their moors and nothing's changing this course.

Tell me now:
What's all at stake?
And what is left in our wake?

Crush the shells on the shore like two jaded souls slipping into old habits and currents. Carried along we sing the same songs we learned while still worried about reflections in ice, ignoring advice to take up the challenge of drawing our charts to find just what moves our hearts.

And though it's never enough, we try to play through the rough.
We get so carried away, everything's held far at bay.
The ropes have slipped from their moors and nothing's changing this course.

Tell me now:
What's all at stake?
And what is left in our wake?
